LINDSAY LOHAN #2

santa monica, ca

At 10:30 in the morning on November 15, 2007, actress Lindsay Lohan reported to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California to serve her 24-hour jail sentence in connection with two driving under the influence incidents in the preceding six months. Jail authorities fingerprinted, photographed, and placed Lohan in a holding cell. 84 minutes later, Lohan was released in compliance with Sheriff’s Department policy regarding the release of non-violent offenders due to overcrowding. When asked if Lohan received special treatment, Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore explained that “30 to 50 women are granted early releases from the facility every day.”

Lohan’s sentence for the two DUIs—a crash in Beverly Hills in May and a chase in Santa Monica in July—included two days of jail time (one previously served), ten days of community service, three years’ probation and a mandatory 18 month alcohol counseling and rehabilitation program. Lohan performed community service at a Los Angeles area Red Cross, as well as serving at a Los Angeles County morgue and an area hospital emergency room. As of July 2008, Lohan had completed her sentence and community service, and remained “on track” to complete her probation and rehabilitation program. Lohan’s brief stint at Lynwood was not the shortest celebrity jail term there—reality TV star Nicole Richie served 82 minutes at Lynwood as punishment for driving under the influence of drugs.
