Al Pacino: The Method Actor
Long before he played a mobster in The Godfather, a young Pacino was arrested in a situation that looked like a scene from a movie.
-
The Arrest (1961): At age 20, Pacino was pulled over in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Police found him and two friends wearing black masks and gloves in the car.
-
The Weapon: A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .38-caliber pistol in the trunk. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and held in jail for three days because he couldn’t pay the $2,000 bail.
-
The Explanation: The charges were eventually dropped when he explained they were acting students on their way to a job, and the “weapon” was a prop.
